The duration is 60 minutes with negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Tier 2 consists of different papers depending on the posts applied for, including Quantitative Abilities, English Language & Comprehension, Statistics, and General Studies. Each paper is of 2-3 hours duration. Tier 3 is a descriptive paper in English/Hindi to test writing skills, and Tier 4 involves Computer Proficiency Test or Skill Test for specific posts.

For effective preparation, candidates should focus on solving previous year question papers from 2019 to 2025 which help understand the exam pattern, difficulty level, and time management. Regular practice with timed mock tests, analyzing mistakes, and focusing on high-weightage topics are essential strategies for success.

The SSC CGL examination covers a wide range of subjects requiring comprehensive preparation. General Intelligence & Reasoning includes topics like analogies, similarities, differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, and non-verbal series.

General Awareness covers questions on India and its neighboring countries, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy, and Scientific Research. Candidates should stay updated with current affairs and have good knowledge of static GK topics.

Quantitative Aptitude section tests mathematical skills covering Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals, Fractions, Relationships between numbers, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Square roots, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Time and distance, Time & Work, Basic algebraic identities, Linear equations, Triangle, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Trigonometry, and Statistical Charts.

English Comprehension section evaluates candidates’ understanding and knowledge of English Language covering areas like Vocabulary, Grammar, Sentence structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, and its correct usage, etc. Reading comprehension passages test comprehension skills and ability to understand written English.
